These wheels are a wonderful way for the children to review the concept of sequencing, which is found in this week's fable, 'What About Me?'. :)
Assignment: Construct an edible model of either a plant or animal cell, create a recipe card/key with ingredients for your creation, and present your model to the class.
Due: Monday October 7th 1. Make your edible model out of a cake, cookie, brownie, pizza, rice krispy treat, rice cake, or anything else you can think of. 2. Please do not use Jello-O; it tends to melt and can be very messy. 3. Use frosting, candies, pasta, beans, fruit, etc. to represent each part. Make it look realistic (and tasty). (There are students in class allergic to peanuts and other kinds of nuts. Please refrain from using those as ingredients.) 4. Your edible cell should be a single serving size; please keep it smaller than 15 cm by 15 cm or 6 inches by 6 inches. 5. Use disposable pans/plates or cardboard covered with foil to bring your edible cell to school. 6. Write out a recipe card/key for your creation; include the items used and include the cell structure they are representing. 7. Be prepared to talk about your project in front of the class; you will be asked what you used for each part and how you constructed your cell. 8. This project is worth 100 points and will be graded accuracy, completeness, creativity, and neatness. 9. THIS PROJECT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED LATE!! In case of an excused absence, you may turn it on the day of your return. I have been noticing children have not been writing in their reading log and reading chart consistently. Please have each child record the amount of minutes they read that day, even if it is five minutes. Reading is important for a child to build on fluency, accuracy and comprehension. It will be counted as a weekly homework grade. Thank you :) Assalamu alaikum! Inshallah, by next week I will be providing a spelling notebook for each child to complete their spelling homework! :) Please have your child complete the spelling homework on looseleaf paper this week, which will be provided by me. Thank you! :) Third graders will have gym every Monday and Wednesday, inshallah. Please have your child wear sneakers on those days. Thank you. |
